Succesful public meeting on the proposed wind farm at Clare
On Friday evening Matthew hosted a joint public meeting in Hundon village hall with Tim Yeo, Member for South Suffolk, to discuss the proposed BT wind farm at Clare.
Around one hundred people attended the meeting and the clear conclusion was that this specific wind farm is inappropriate and must be opposed. Matthew and Tim are determined to help the community fight this inappropriate proposal.
Matthew said: ‘We wanted to hold a public meeting to find out what people living near the proposed site thought. The reaction was overwhelming, and the meeting was unanimously opposed to putting six 99.5 metre high wind turbines on one of the highest points in the Stour Valley. Doing that would have such a damaging impact on this beautiful area. The site is not only close to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty but also to many listed buildings and most importantly to the homes of many people in Chiltern Street, Stoke by Clare, Clare and Hundon. Tim Yeo and I will fight this proposal, and a community led action group is being set up to lead the charge. We will give it our full support.’
